# New individual NPIs by year and taxonomy, from NPPES September 2026

Individuals (entity type 1) in the CMS NPPES full replacement file of September 2026,
counted by the year on the enumeration date. Each NPI has one taxonomy: the slot
flagged as primary, else slot 1, mapped to NUCC code set 26.1. The taxonomy is the
one on file in September 2026, not the one chosen at registration.

## Files

- new_individual_npis_by_year.csv: new individual NPIs per enumeration year, 2010 to 2025.
- new_npis_by_classification.csv: new NPIs per NUCC classification, 2019 to 2025, growth 2025 against 2024 and 2019, and January to August counts for 2025 and 2026.
