# Chiropractors in the US, from NPPES September 2026

Individuals (entity type 1) in the CMS NPPES full replacement file of September 2026
who hold a NUCC Chiropractor taxonomy code (111N*) in any of the 15 taxonomy
slots, with deactivated NPIs left out unless reactivated. An NPI never expires, so
these counts run above any count of people at work.

## Files

- chiropractors_by_state.csv: state, chiropractors by practice address, Census population 1 July 2024, chiropractors per 100,000 residents. 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico.
- new_npis_by_year.csv: chiropractors, chiropractors with sex code F, and physical therapists (2251*, same rules) by the year their NPI was issued. 2026 runs to mid September.
- specializations.csv: chiropractors per NUCC specialization code. A person with two codes counts in both.
- facts.json: totals, sex code, and the sole proprietor flag for chiropractors and for physical therapists.
